Tao Zhang – Mabel Lee Award

Tao ZhangTao Zhang, Assistant Professor of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation, has been selected by the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) to receive the Mabel Lee Award at the organization's national convention on April 25, 2013.  This award is presented annually for the purpose of recognizing younger members of the organization who have been outstnading in the areas of scholarship, teaching or professional leadership.  The AAHPERD is the largest organization of professionals involved in physical activity and health, and other areas related to a healthy and active lifestyle.  AAHPERD and its national affiliates are instrumental in the pioneering of new programs, policies, standards, educational activities, and professional resources to assist their 20,000 members advance their careers.

"I am grateful for this very high honor in this international organization," Zhang said.  "This award provides an opportunity for me to better contribute to the field and conduct research focusing specifically on interdisciplinary issues involving physical activity and health."
