The purpose of this award is to recognize a Center or Institute formally established under the UNT Policy on Centers and Institutes for its excellence. The award reflects the Center's or Institute's substantial achievements over time in advancing the University's goals in areas such as service, outreach, interdisciplinary scholarship and externally funded research and development. The award recipients will be recognized at the Salute to Faculty Excellence Awards Dinner and Ceremony.
The Office of the Provost accepts these recommendations, and based on the self-studies, the input of the Executive Council for Center/Institute Directors (ECCID), and recorded comments by the ECCID, makes the final decision on the Center or Insitute to receive this award.
Formally established Centers and Institutes undergo a self-study and review on a rolling three year basis (i.e.1/3 of the Centers and Institutes are review each year). The annual reviews are conducted by the ECCID), which the Provost has appointed as a representatvie committee for all Center and Institute directors, and is chaired by Senior Vice Provost. Member of the ECCID recommend candidate Centers and Institutes for this award based on the following consideration:
Visibility to University of North Texas
Visibility may be along the lines of research, teaching/training and service
Awarded every three years
