J.H. Shelton Excellence in Teaching Award
Award
This annual award, named for UNT alumnus Joe Houston Shelton, recognizes full-time faculty members for a record of outstanding teaching at the University of North Texas for at least a five year period. The recipient of this honor will receive a $1,500 award to be presented at the fall 2013 Salute to Faculty Excellence Dinner and Ceremony.
Selection Process/Eligibility
All full-time faculty members with at least five years of UNT teaching experience are eligible, but previous recipients of the award are not eligible for nomination for five years following the receipt of this award, in order to allow the committee opportunity to recognize our many high achieving teachers at UNT. Faculty may be nominated by the Personal Affairs Committee (PAC) of a department, division, school, or college or by any self-constituted committee of three or more tenure/tenure-track faculty members, and by students.
Nominations can be made by sending an email to the Faculty Senate Awards Committee at FacultySenate@unt.edu with the name and contact information of the nominee. Please confirm with the nominee that he/she is willing to apply for the award before submitting his/her name for consideration. Deadline for nominations is February.
Complete application packets should be submitted in PDF format to the Faculty Senate Awards at FacultySenate@unt.edu.
