Ulys & Vera Knight Faculty Mentor Award Introduced
Mentoring offers a vital contribution to academic and professional success. At UNT, we are committed to providing a culture of mentoring excellence in all areas that impact academic life. The Ulys & Vera Knight Faculty Mentor Award recognizes a faculty member who demonstrates sustained excellence in mentoring undergraduate students, graduate students, and/or other faculty. Mentoring may include support and guidance in the areas of teaching, research, service, academic achievement and/or professional development.
Faculty Mentor Helps Students Succeed
Faculty mentor, Jannon L. Fuchs, Professor of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences is one of our many faculty members who help students excel.
Biological sciences professor Jannon Fuchs plays a game called “email ping pong.”
As her students are writing papers, she responds back with critiques – sometimes dozens of rounds. But she notes that she’s critiquing the science part, not the person.
Great Resources to Kick Start the Year

More to come, but for now check out the 2012 TES Plenary Sessions and selected breakout sessions.
